Position: Telephony Engineer

Job Description

Using your consultative and technical skills, you will design, install and support Digital and IP phone systems in the Kansas City market and beyond. Responsibilities:

  • Phone and on-site consultation with clients about their phone system needs, pre- and post-sale, generally in support of a sales or support person.
  • Project Management of Phone System and related cabling and network infrastructure installations
  • Self-management on a day-to-day basis, including client schedule change notification, client scheduling, and vendor, subcontractor, and co-worker coordination
  • Maintain contact management, service order, and equipment records in accordance with MTC procedures.
  • Ability use proper tools and equipment
  • Periodic after-hours work
  • Maintenance of certifications with appropriate manufacturers
  • Attendance at appropriate company meetings
  • Flexibility to deal with product changes, schedule changes, scope of work changes, on a regular basis
  • Self-motivation to learn new products and services in a timely fashion.
  • Development and documentation of installation and service procedures
  • Development and presentation of technical training material to MTC personnel
  • Professionally interact with co-workers, clients, and vendors
  • Professionally participate in MTC marketing and training events, such as seminars, tradeshows, and other typical business activities.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of outside sales success
  • Avaya IP Office and Communication Manager experience, certifications preferred
  • Avaya Voicemail and Unified Communications/Messaging Experience, certification preferred
  • Enthusiasm for helping other people
  • Selling skills
  • Entrepreneurial attitude
  • Desire to win
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Computer literacy (experience with contact manager software is a plus)
  • Sales experience in IP telephony.
